I am forwarding an email sent out from Cheryl Bracket, the Transportation Coordinator at the Maine DOE, regarding the Maine School Bus Purchase Program.
This is regarding the allocation of funding within the EPS funding formula if you are purchasing a bus using the Maine School Bus Purchase program. If you purchase a bus using local only funds, this would not apply to you.

Good morning,
I would like to clear up confusion around the bus bids. I receive many questions regarding the below information. For Estimated SAU Cost and State Bid Value on the new bus request:

You must enter the low bid value on the application. If you do not see the type of bus and low bid value that is on the listing below, your application will not be approved. If you choose a bus with a base price higher than the amount listed, your school will have to pay the difference. The state will only subsidize the bid base prices listed below. We are seeking for accuracy on our reporting and subsidies.
For example, If I would like to apply for a conventional, diesel, 77 passenger, my SAU cost and state bid value would be $116,650. If I want to apply for a conventional, gasoline bus at 35 passenger, by state bid value would be $106,137. If I wanted to purchase an A1 gasoline, 22 passenger it is not on the list so I would not be able to purchase.
Again, if you choose a bus that is not on this listing, it will not be approved.
