[MaineLiteracy] The Right to Read Screening Opportunities

Good morning,
I am pleased to announce multiple free screening opportunities for The Right To Read documentary. an award-winning film about a topic that filmmakers describe as the “greatest civil rights issue of our time”: literacy.

The University of Southern Maine Department of Special Education and the Maine Department of Education are happy to co-host a free screening of the documentary The Right to Read on Monday 22, January 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in Hannaford Hall on the Portland campus. The movie screening will be followed by a panel discussion with USM faculty, DOE staff, and classroom teachers. Note: This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available on the USM Portland campus at the cost of $4.00 per hour.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle and the Maine Department of Education will also co-host a January live screening of The Right to Read. The northern Maine screening will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24 in UMPI’s Campus Center, and will be followed by a question and answer session with a Maine Department of Education official and local teachers. The public is invited to attend this free event.
