The National Water Quality Monitoring Council's Volunteer Monitoring Workgroup is hosting a webinar on Wednesday May 6, at 3pm ET. Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_rFMMQBPrTeao5HUe0J5Dbg

The workgroup will be focusing the next two years on data management best practices from program design to data sheets to databases to data ethics. We are excited to kick off the series with a great team on May 6th!

Lake Erie Volunteer Science Network: Leveraging Standardization for Data-Driven Collaboration
Over the last six years, the Lake Erie Volunteer Science Network (LEVSN) has transformed from a collection of six unaffiliated volunteer water quality monitoring programs into a coordinated observing system involving more than 20 organizations. Standardization of data collection, management, visualization, analysis, and reporting protocols across LEVSN participants has enabled rapid onboarding of new groups, regional interoperability for insights at the scale of a Great Lake, and plug and play integration with state, national, and international data platforms for increased data usability and visibility. Cleveland Water Alliance, lead facilitator of the Network, and The Commons, its data platform lead, are excited to share lessons learned on how fit for purpose data management tools can help water monitoring groups meet short and long-term program goals, enabling impact and growth at both local and regional levels.

Presenters:
  * Max Herzog, Deputy Director of Programs and Partnerships, Cleveland Water Alliance
  * R. John Dawes, Executive Director, The Commons

The webinar will be recorded and shared with the people who register and a recording will be posted to volunteermonitoring.org<http://volunteermonitoring.org/>.
