PRIORITY NOTICE: Updated Date and Time for Informational Meeting on Child Find and FAPE Transition from CDS to SAUs

Dear Champions of Education,

Please note that the informational meeting regarding the transition of Child Find and Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) responsibilities from Child Development Services (CDS) to school administrative units (SAUs), originally scheduled for August 12, has been rescheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience that this change may cause and appreciate your flexibility.

The meeting will now take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. Please use this link<https://maine.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a582edd6473e477ef6307c769&id=24d15fe72d&e=d89fcd9d0f> to join the meeting.

The Maine Department of Education (DOE) is hosting this informational meeting to provide an overview of the ongoing transition of Child Find and FAPE responsibilities for 3- to 5-year-olds from CDS to SAUs. This session is intended for SAU administrators and staff who are interested in learning more about:

  *   The transition timeline
  *   Implementation options for SAUs
  *   Available state-level support and resources
  *   Key requirements related to Part B of IDEA
  *   A live Q&A session with Maine DOE staff

We strongly encourage all SAUs not currently participating in a transition cohort to attend, particularly those preparing to begin local planning in the coming year. Please update your calendars and share this notice with relevant team members.
