Hi Natasha,
This is the language we just incorporated this past August:
1. Up to two days of sick leave may be used each year in accordance
with Article 14. In the event that the Legislature determines that 26
M.R.S. §637 does not apply to teachers, this provision of the contract will
expire at the end of the current school year and revert to sixteen (16)
sick days and three (3) personal days.
*Here is the cross-reference to Article 14: *Personal leave shall be
granted to an employee for up to three (3) days for urgent personal
business which cannot be conducted at a time other than during school hours.
The employee shall attest on the documentation that the leave falls into
one of four categories: religious, legal, business or family. Final
approval of a personal leave request shall remain unchanged unless agreed
upon by the Director and employee. Personal leave on the day before or
after a holiday and/or school vacations may be granted upon approval by the
Director. Per Article 11 section A-1, two additional days may be used from
sick leave while 26 M.R.S. §637 is in effect and will not be restricted.
