[MEA] Upcoming Maine DOE Assessment Team Office Hour and Professional Learning

On Wednesday, September 11th at noon, the Maine DOE Assessment Team will be hosting our monthly Office Hour. (Register here<https://networkmaine.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIkfuCvrTIoGdfM5UfryOBF8E2QcbFKZGFX#/registration>.) NWEA will be joining us for the Q&A portion at the end of the Office Hour to answer any of your questions regarding pre-administration activities. Please note that NWEA has different teams with different specializations, and the NWEA team joining us on Wednesday works exclusively with the assessment platforms. They will be able to answer any questions related to technical issues you are experiencing with the assessment platforms. They will not be able to answer questions regarding scoring, assessment design, or the assessment content.

If you do have questions regarding scoring, I recommend signing up for one of the Understanding Scores from the Maine Through Year Assessment professional learning sessions. Participants will learn about the two score types produced by the Maine Through Year Assessment: RIT scores and the Maine scale score, including their similarities, differences, and uses. Opportunities for Q&A will be provided, and participants may submit their questions prior to the session. If you have specific questions, please send them to me in advance of the meeting so that I can reach out to NWEA's psychometricians for additional information if needed.

Maine Science Assessment scores will become available in the Kite Reporting Platform in mid-October. To support schools and SAUs in understanding and utilizing score reports from the Maine Science Assessment, the following two iterations of a professional learning session will be provided:
Maine Science Assessment: Understanding & Utilizing Score Reports
Participants will learn how the structure of the Maine Science Assessment reflects the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards (disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts) as well as how score reports can inform educational decision making.
