Invitation
Maine Vision Screening Guidelines Online Learning Modules
Maine DOE recently partnered with School Health Associates to create the Evidence-based Vision Screening Guidelines for Preschool and School-aged Children. These online modules provide a detailed step by step guide on how, when, and why to vision screen Maine children. American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) approved contact hours (1.1) can be obtained at the completion of the training through 2026. Any School Nurse in Maine that is working with the ages to which screening is required by state law (Chapt. 45<https://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/rules/05/chaps05.htm>) to occur, is encouraged to complete the training to understand current best practice. In order to access the learning module, must first create an account in the EnGine Learning Platform<https://www.maine.gov/doe/sites/maine.gov.doe/files/inline-files/School%20Health%20Services%20-%20EnGiNE%20Onboarding%20Guide%208.1.2024.pdf>--this must be done with a Maine school email address. This learning module was developed with School Health Associates, LLC to provide nurses in Maine with the knowledge to implement evidence-based vision screenings for students.
