Greetings,

I was so happy to see 32 people today at office hours! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to join.

Here are the notes:

Maine CDC Oral Health Program is requesting school nurses complete a brief survey regarding any programming occurring in schools to better support individual schools and providers in the field.
For example, If a school selects that they have a provider, the survey will open a field requesting to write who it is to make sure they are supporting all the providers serving communities!!
If the answer is “no”, you don't have a provider, it will allow you to provide contact information if you want to enroll with the oral health program. Link to the survey: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/27def0c86bfa427bb53d7efde0d0ed07
Maine AAP and Maine DOE Webinar Series- We have partnered with Maine AAP to create a webinar series for this school year. It is set to begin in October and run through April. More details and registration information will be coming soon. These webinars are free and will provide continuing education.
Infectious Disease “Mailing” from Maine CDC was sent out a few weeks ago. As a reminder this is where you can find the updated Communicable Disease Quick Guide<https://www.maine.gov/doe/sites/maine.gov.doe/files/inline-files/School%20Health%20Services%20-%20CDC%20Communicable%20Diseases%20Quick%20Guide%20-%207.2024.pdf> as well as other resources. There aren’t any special COVID-19 guidelines—just exclude until fever free and symptoms are getting better overall. There is a document that you can share with families that was created jointly by Attendance Works, Kaiser Permanente, and NASN called, “When is Sick too Sick for School<https://www.attendanceworks.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Attendance-Works-Too-Sick-for-School-060824.pdf>?”
As children return to school this fall, being prepared for infectious diseases can keep children and staff healthy. Be sure to review the CDC's recently released Preventing the Spread of Infections in K-12 Schools.<https://www.cdc.gov/orr/school-preparedness/infection-prevention/index.html> There are strategies to prepare for the respiratory virus season. Preparedness starts with schools taking everyday preventive measures, or daily actions, to help reduce the spread of infections, as well as establishing an infectious disease annex as part of the emergency operations plan.
Maine CDC launches immunization record mobile app
Maine CDC has partnered with a new, free, mobile application, Docket, to allow Maine people to opt in to easily, quickly, and securely access their vaccine records through their smartphones and other mobile devices. The Maine CDC has seen an increasingly high demand for access to vaccination records in recent years, which were previously processed by mail. So far this year, the Maine CDC has received over 3,000 requests for immunization records and between 2020 and 2023, nearly 10,000 requests were made. For comparison, in 2019, the Maine CDC received 111 requests for vaccination records. Those without access to a smartphone or mobile device may use the Docket website<https://me.app.dockethealth.com/> to verify their identity and access their immunization records. Hard copies of immunization records may still be requested via a health care provider's office. To learn more about Docket, please visit the Maine Immunization Program's website<https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/infectious-disease/immunization/docket-immunization-records.shtml>.
Public Health Collaboration Partners sheet is attached. It can be helpful to see how we interact or how you can interact with other public health agencies in the state.
