Before we enter into February break, I wanted to be sure to remind you all of upcoming professional development opportunitites you won't want to miss:


February 16th

Please join the Maine Department of Education and DHHS Office of MaineCare Services are pleased to present MaineCare in Education Bootcamp. Topics covered will include: MaineCare Basics MaineCare Covered Service Reimbursement Opportunities IEP documentation Day Treatment Support Transportation Interpreter Services Nursing Services How to Start Billing MaineCare SEED EPS School health related services Technical Assistance Opportunities This one day workshop is presented in a hybrid format with in person and virtual opportunities on February 9th and 16th from 10-2pm at DHHS Building located at 109 Capital Street in Augusta. In person attendance limited to 40. Light refreshments and coffee will be served. Lunch will be on your own. February 27th

Our monthly webinar series for February is McKinney Vento; What Maine School Nurses Need to Know. Learn how you can collaborate with your local liaison to support students who are in inadequate or unstable housing. Learn about immunization requirements, access to healthcare, resources, federal rights, and funding available to support this population. Intended audience: Maine School Nurses

March 5th, 8th, or 28th (Deadline to register 2/26/24)

We will again offer the program developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics called Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) which is designed to give prehospital professionals the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to effectively assess and manage pediatric patients. There will be three opportunities for this starting March 5th for up to 24 people for each class. If you attended PEPP or PEARS during the last school year, please do not sign up for this. We want additional people to be able to take advantage. The cost of $225 per person will be covered by Maine DOE.   Trainings offered: March 5 (Bangor), March 8 (Lewiston), and March 28 (Waterville) 8-5pm each day. Lunch and certificate of contact hours to be provided. Open to current Maine School Nurses only.

Deadline to register is 2/26/24. Update: Approximately half of available spots have been registered for already! Selected participants will receive a confirmation email by 2/26/24.
