This email is going to every town/city in Maine. Please forward this to any others who may be interested in this info......... thanks.

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) recently released a notice about a new funding opportunity - the Maine Public Working Waterfront Infrastructure Fund<https://www.maine.gov/dot/sites/maine.gov.dot/files/inline-files/maine_public_working_waterfront_infrastructure_fund_Notice_FINAL_0.pdf>. The Request for Applications (RFA) will open in late January 2026 to support planning, design, and construction at existing public working waterfront facilities. Tidally influenced Municipalities that have public working waterfront are eligible to apply. The purpose of the notice is to give eligible entities time to start thinking about potential projects and ask questions, before the RFA opens.

The purpose of the fund is to adapt existing public working waterfront infrastructure to reduce vulnerability to climate change, sea level rise, coastal flooding and other impacts. Eligible properties include publicly-owned working waterfronts that provide access to or support the conduct of commercial fishing, aquaculture, or other marine activities.

Any and all questions should go to Adaptation.DOT at maine.gov<mailto:Adaptation.DOT at maine.gov>. Sierra Millay or Lirella Jaen will answer any questions. Some of the requirements associated with the funding cannot change, although, MaineDOT is still developing the RFA, and your questions can help with the development of the application.
