<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal">The Androscoggin River Watershed Council is seeking a
part-time, work at home, Environmental Director. In the past decade, the Androscoggin River
Watershed Council (ARWC) has established itself as a leader in protecting and
restoring habitat for brook trout and other aquatic species in stream and lake
watersheds in Western Maine. ARWC has
also been a consistent voice promoting water access in both Maine and northern
New Hampshire. As Environmental Director, you will be charged with continuing
and expanding this leadership role. <span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><b>General Role:</b> You will identify and pursue opportunities for habitat
protection and restoration activities.
An important but less time-consuming role is to coordinate and promote
water access and recreation. This is a largely self-directed position with
the ability to grow in your job as you help the Council grow and promote its
programs. You will report to the board
chairperson and have the opportunity to work with the Board of Directors on the
Council’s future direction. <span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><br></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><b>Work
with Others</b>: You will work extensively with volunteers, a broad array of
partners, and federal, state and local officials. Current partners include Soil and Water
Conservation Districts, Land Trusts, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Lake
Associations, Towns, Maine DEP and NH DES and Natural Resource Conservation
Service (USDA).<span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><span> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;line-height:normal"><b>Pursue Funding:</b> An important aspect of the work is
to identify funding opportunities, apply for funding, and manage funding. This work includes assisting partners apply
for and manage grants related to our work. Overall finances are done by
Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, so your financial responsibilities

combination of education and experience suited for the duties including
knowledge of the natural resources and water recreation. A bachelor’s degree in a field related to the
natural environment and/or ecology is desirable. Fund raising skills including the ability to
develop grant applications is highly desirable. Excellent communication and writing skills and
a sound working knowledge of the digital world are required.
