*Summary*

*Stillwater Environmental Engineering (SEE) is seeking a Project Scientist
to join our small, close-knit team in Orono, Maine. We are looking for an
environmental professional with at least four years of experience who
enjoys solving environmental challenges, working directly with clients, and
contributing to a wide variety of projects throughout Maine.*

*The primary focus of this position will be supporting municipal stormwater
(MS4) permit compliance programs. Responsibilities will include field work,
inspections, environmental monitoring, data management, regulatory
compliance assistance, technical writing, and client support. Depending on
the successful candidate's experience and interests, additional project
work may include stream monitoring, watershed-based management planning
(WBMPs), industrial stormwater permit compliance, air emissions reporting,
GIS, and other environmental consulting services.*

*As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work
independently, while also collaborating closely with experienced staff on
meaningful projects that protect Maine's water resources and help clients
navigate environmental regulations.*
*Responsibilities*

   -

   *Support MS4 permit compliance programs for municipalities throughout
   Maine.*
   -

   *Oversee scheduling and assignments for 2 to 3 summer interns.*
   -

   *Perform surface water and stormwater monitoring, field investigations,
   and environmental sample collection.*
   -

   *Prepare annual reports, technical memoranda, permit applications, and
   other environmental compliance documents.*
   -

   *Communicate professionally with clients, regulatory agencies,
   subcontractors, and project team members.*
   -

   *Manage assigned projects, schedules, and budgets with support from
   senior staff.*
   -

   *Contribute to proposal preparation and business development efforts as
   opportunities arise.*
   -

   *Perform other environmental consulting duties as assigned.*

*Additional Project Opportunities*

*Depending on the successful candidate's experience, interests, and
workload, the position may also include:*

   -

   *Assisting with watershed-based management plan (WBMP) development and
   implementation, water quality improvement projects, and stream monitoring
   programs.*
   -

   *Supporting industrial and institutional environmental compliance
   projects, including stormwater permitting, air emissions reporting, and
   other regulatory compliance activities.*
   -

   *Assisting with GIS mapping, data management, and field data collection.*
   -

   *Supporting other environmental consulting projects as needed.*

*Qualifications**Required*

   -

   *Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering,
   Natural Resources, or a related field.*
   -

   *Four or more years of professional environmental consulting or related
   environmental experience.*
   -

   *Excellent written and verbal communication skills.*
   -

   *Strong technical writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.*
   -

   *Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting
   deadlines.*
   -

   *Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team
   environment.*
   -

   *Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Maine for
   project work.*

*Preferred*

   -

   *Experience supporting MS4 permit compliance programs.*
   -

   *Project management and supervisory experience.*
   -

   *Experience conducting stormwater inspections, environmental monitoring,
   and water quality sampling.*
   -

   *Familiarity with Maine DEP and USEPA environmental regulations.*
   -

   *Experience using ArcGIS or other GIS software.*
   -

   *Experience preparing environmental compliance documents, technical
   reports, and permit applications.*
   -

   *Experience with one or more of the following: watershed-based
   management plans (WBMPs), industrial stormwater permitting, SWPPPs, SPCC
   plans, air emissions reporting, or environmental permitting.*
