NH Watershed Protection and Restoration Forum BLOG has posted a new item, 'Winter Salt Week 2026 Monday, January 26, 2026, to Friday, January 30, 2026'

The NHDES Green SnowPro program is partnering with organizations across the country to elevate conversations around winter salt pollution and reduction solutions. Winter Salt Week will feature daily live streams from ecologists, winter maintenance contractors, and activists from across the United States.
Tune in to learn more about the environmental toll of deicers, private industry successes, engineering solutions, smart salting contracts, local monitoring efforts, and how individuals can get involved!

To tune in starting Monday, January 26th at 1:30 pm ET, register on the Winter Salt Week website. Speakers include Stan Grant and Megan Rippy (Virginia Tech), Phill Sexton (WIT Advisors), Aron Rodman, (Extra Mile Snow Plowing), Martin Tirado (Snow and Ice Management Association), Jim Turcan (Cornerstone Landscaping Services), Connie Fortin (Bolton & Menk), Wilf Nixon (Professional Snowfighters Association), Abby Hileman (Izaak Walton League of America), Mary Rooney (Little LeHigh Water Stewards), Paige Vichiola (Farmington River Watershed Association), and Lauren (Friends of the Rouge).

Green Mountain Conservation Group (GMCG) will host a live stream showing of Freshwater Salinization: Causes, Consequences and Trends from 1:15 - 2:00 pm on Monday, January 26 at the GMCG conservation center located at 236 Huntress Bridge Road in Effingham, followed by a Salt Reduction Round Table Discussion from 2:15 - 3:15 pm led by Aubrey Voelker, Salt Reduction Program Coordinator for NH Department of Environmental Services and Scott Kinmond, Technical Specialist and Instructor with the NH Local Technical Assistance Program (NH LTAP) at the University of NH Technology Transfer Center (UNH T2). Aubrey and Scott will discuss what's being done to try to solve the issue in New Hampshire and offer an opportunity for participants to ask questions, share about local efforts as well as hurdles related to achieving salt reduction.
