The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is seeking applications for the 2026 Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund<https://www.maine.gov/dot/programs-services/environmental-efforts/climate-initiative/adaptation> (MIAF).


  *   The Request For Application went live on March 30, 2026, and closes on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:59 pm EST.

  *   The purpose of this program is to enable Municipalities, Tribal Governments, and Infrastructure Districts to adapt existing critical infrastructure to reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as sea level rise, increased precipitation, and other related climate risks, and provide increasing resilience.


  *   Eligible properties include publicly owned existing infrastructure in Municipalities, Tribal Governments, and Infrastructure Districts. Private, state-owned, or state-aid infrastructure, including state-owned infrastructure and state-aid infrastructure located within urban compact areas, are not eligible to apply.


  *   Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, elevating or relocating existing infrastructure, stormwater systems upgrades, and wastewater treatment plants upgrades for increased resilience to climate stressors, and/or replacing existing stream crossings with structures that comply with MaineDOT's 100-year flood standards and ensure habitat connectivity.
