<p class="MsoNormal">I completely understand your concerns, and so I want to ensure that you know who to contact with your questions. The School Finance & Compliance team do not manage any of the federal funds, so we are unable to assist you with these questions.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#505050">The Maine Department of Education has an important update to share regarding the status of state Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Elementary and Secondary
Education Act (ESEA) federal grant allocations. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="line-height:150%"><strong><span style="font-size:10.5pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#505050">The U.S. Department of Education (USED) will not release ESEA federal grant allocations for Title I, Part C (Migrant Education),
Title II (Supporting Effective Instruction), Title III (Language Instruction for English Learners), and Title IV, Part B (21st Century Community Learning Centers) by July 1, 2025.
</span></strong><span style="font-size:10.5pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#505050">State education agencies have been notified that allocations for these vital programs are currently under review by the federal Office of Management
and Budget (OMB). <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="line-height:150%"><strong><span style="font-size:10.5pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#505050">This delay impacts every state in the nation and may extend into late September.
</span></strong><span style="font-size:10.5pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#505050">Maine’s ESEA FY26 consolidated application is available via the Grants4ME platform. Please note that there are placeholders for ESEA Titles II, III,
and V (Rural Education Initiative). As a friendly reminder,<strong><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> school administrative units (SAUs) may not begin to obligate funding for these programs until grant allocations have been finalized by USED. </span></strong><o:p></o:p></span></p>
