The Maine Department of Education (DOE) continues to work to streamline its Federal Program requirements and timelines. The last update to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) allowed the Maine DOE to increase the close-out period for school administrative
units (SAUs), resulting in unintended challenges regarding sufficient time to close out Federal grants.<br>
<br>
As a direct response to the most recent liquidation period, timelines for liquidation are being updated. This will impact the timelines for Federal invoice submission and reimbursement moving forward.<br>
<br>
These changes are reflected in <a href="https://maine.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a582edd6473e477ef6307c769&id=23a9c5ce29&e=d89fcd9d0f"><span style="color:#336699">2 CFR 200.344</span></a> and noted below: <o:p></o:p></span></p>

close-out date information will be posted to the Maine DOE website; however, please also share this information with key individuals within your SAU, including any schools receiving equitable or proportional shares of Federal funds. It is the goal of the Maine
DOE to provide consistency to the SAUs it serves, which will support the ability of SAUs to maintain standard operating procedures for fiscal responsibility. <br>
<br>
The Maine DOE continues to request that invoices be submitted regularly – quarterly at a minimum, unless indicated in the SAU’s GAN. Each Federal program may have additional guidance regarding the frequency of invoicing, based on the allocation amount. Please
promptly submit invoices to ensure sufficient time to approve, return for revisions, and process reimbursements.<br>
