[SchoolFinance] Local Additional Question

I am sure that every Town would like us to reduce our Additional Local
Requests each year, some of our Towns think that we should be able to live
with the same budget each year, even when costs of everything increases.
We typically get the "Schools need to tighten their belt" lecture each year
at the same time that they tell us costs at home are increasing. Duh!

So, We try to keep the increase reasonable and typically use the COLA as a
guideline and highlight any special projects or unique costs for that
year. By looking at the prior referendum voting results by Town each year,
we can pretty much tell which Towns will approve an increase and which
Towns vote it down no matter what the increase is.

We represent 3 Districts. Last year one District passed on first try, one
District took 2 tries and one District took 3 tries. This tells me that
this year will not be easy and we plan to try to bring in a less than 5%
increase to additional local if at all possible. That's the goal, not sure
where we will land yet.
