PRIORITY NOTICE: Synergy to Be Utilized for Fall 2025 Data Collection, Extending CONNECT Transition

Dear Champions of Education,

In keeping with our commitment to predictability and reliability, the Maine Department of Education (DOE) Data Team has made the decision to utilize Synergy State Edition for the Fall 2025-2026 data collections, extending the transition period to our new CONNECT data integration platform. This decision ensures that we can proceed with full confidence in providing accurate, complete, and timely assessment roster data for the Fall Maine Through Year Assessment: Mathematics and Reading, which opens on September 15. It will also ensure that the collection of October 1 Enrollment and Child Count data occurs on schedule, as necessary to complete Essential Programs and Services (EPS) funding calculations, as required by statute.

Please note:

  *   Student ID generation will take place in Synergy.
  *   Synergy will be available starting the week of August 18, so that school entities may proceed with uploads for students enrolling for Fall 2025.
  *   Dropout reporting will be processed based on Synergy exit reasons and Fall 2025 enrollments with certification in NEO, as has been the case in prior years.
  *   EPS Certification will be generated from October 1, 2025 enrollment data collected in Synergy and will be reported and certified in NEO, as has been the case in prior years.
We want to thank all of the school entities who attended the training for the new CONNECT platform this summer. We had 91% participation statewide and are appreciative of the feedback provided. As a result:

  *   We will be proceeding with implementation this fall and utilizing the additional time to complete further training and testing.
  *   We will also be updating the timeline to allow for additional "sandbox" testing time, as requested in training feedback.
  *   Extending our implementation period will allow us to gain experience and confidence, as we make this significant change on our path to data system modernization.
As a result of this decision, there is now an opportunity for school entities to perform parallel testing with CONNECT later this fall. When CONNECT is ready for "sandbox" processing with 2025-2026 data, we will be asking for your participation. Please be assured that we will be respectful of any time commitment that we request. Please stay tuned for additional details.
