Hi Joy,

Yes, an employer can opt out; an employee cannot.
This law is wrong, that is all I am saying. We are being forced to pay for
something we probably won't ever be able to use as school employees.
I think the law would have been more fair if the employers who don't offer
any kind of leave were made to pay the benefits, not (as I stated before)
all the hard-working people of the State of Maine.  I will get off my
soapbox now and let it rest.  Have a great day everyone!
