For those of you on ERP do you have the update yet? I just checked and it
is still not there for me. Also I am confused by the directions they have
sent out regarding the gross wages. This is showing that it is supposed to
be set up as a section 125, but I thought the state said we weren't
treating it like a section 125?
Good afternoon,
A new Deduction Type, “Paid Family and Medical Leave – Maine,” will be
included in the upcoming patch to be released on or around Tuesday,
December 17th.
*Calculation of Reportable Wages:*
*Gross - EE Contributions to Deduction Type: "Deduction - Section 125 (Fed
and FICA Tax Exempt)" = Reportable Wages (Wage Basis field on Deduction
Journal)*
(Should be same as Wages for Deduction Type: "Unemployment Tax - Maine")
*Calculation of Contributions (Premiums):*
Reportable Wages rounded to nearest dollar x EE % = Employee Contributions
Reportable Wages rounded to nearest dollar x ER % = Employer Contributions
Due to the difference between the Reportable Wages (amount required to be
included in your file) vs the Calculation Wages (used to determine the
premiums), reconciliation for this Deduction Type will need to be done in
Excel. This can be accomplished by utilizing the Employee Journal (PR |
Employees | Employee Journal).
1. Enter the Pay Cycle, Pay Period or Date Range and select the
Deduction Journal checkbox.
2. On the Deduction Journal tab, filter by Deduction Type: “Paid Family
and Medical Leave – Maine.”
3. Apply selection.
4. Export to excel.
5. Add a new column with a formula to round the Wage Basis column to the
nearest dollar.
6. Add columns to multiply the rounded wages by the EE and ER
percentages, respectively.
7. Add columns to find the difference between the actual EE and ER
amounts withheld vs the manually calculated EE and ER amounts.
