No, you are correct.

I have gotten guidance from MSMA that we should not purchase the vans
unless the dealership can prove the vehicle meets the MFASB or Federal
Vehicle Safety Standards 220, 221, and 222

FMVSS No. 220: School Bus Rollover Protection - This standard specifies
requirements for the protection of school bus occupants in rollover crashes.
FMVSS No. 221: School Bus Body Joint Strength - This standard requires
strength in the joints between the panels of school bus bodies to ensure
structural integrity.
FMVSS No. 222: School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection - This
standard requires adequate protection for occupants in the event of a
crash, including seat and restraint specifications.
These standards ensure that MFSAB’s are equipped with enhanced safety
features compared to standard vehicles, making them appropriate for the
transportation of students for school-related activities, even though these
buses are not used for daily student transportation routes.

With this being said, at the MAPT conference last month, the transportation
directors were discussing this and said that none of the vans are used to
pick up students at the street, all are picked up in driveways or in
parking lots. He also said that the other vans and minibuses are similar
and we pick up the students in driveways and parking lots.

I'm trying to see if anyone else is going to be moving forward with these
purchases since they will be very helpful with transporting sports teams
and other smaller groups due to the shortage in drivers across the board.

Thanks!
