<p><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top">On March 18, the Division of Licensing and Certification (DLC) sent notice that Section 28 providers are required to obtain a mental health license in order to provide Section 28 services due to the recently adopted CMR
10-144 Chapter 123, Behavioral Health Organizations Licensing Rule.</span><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> </span>The notice included an application filing deadline of May 11, 2024, for providers who are not currently
licensed as mental health agencies. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top">DLC is extending the application filing deadline for the currently unlicensed providers, to an unspecified date, while the licensing requirement is discussed internally amongst Department offices. The Department is also
waiting for guidance on how the licensing requirement will impact schools. Impacted providers will receive additional information regarding timelines and requirements in the coming weeks.</span><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> </span> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top">In the meantime, providers intending to enroll with MaineCare to deliver Section 28 services can continue to enroll under the current requirements. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="mso-bookmark:gd_top">Providers with an existing mental health agency license must ensure that the existing license includes the community support module and the rehabilitative and community support service<strong><span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">
by May 11, 2024</span></strong>. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
