OCFS CBHS Announces Anticipated 2024 Evidence-Based Practices Training Opportunities
As part of its mission to ensure that Maine children are safe, stable, happy, and healthy, The Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) Children's Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) seeks to increase the availability of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health treatment for children and adolescents. CBHS is pleased to announce opportunities for clinicians and clinical supervisors licensed to practice in Maine to receive virtual training and consultation in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Modular Approach to Therapy for Children (MATCH) starting March 2024. These opportunities are available to clinicians who provide treatment for children and youth in Maine. CBHS will offer the training and the consultation series at no cost to participants.
TF-CBT is for children impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. A components-based treatment model, it incorporates psychoeducation, affect regulation techniques, cognitive-behavioral techniques, coping skill development, reprocessing of traumatic memories, and family therapy.
MATCH is designed for multiple disorders encompassing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and disruptive behavior, including the conduct problems. Composed of 33 modules, treatment procedures are flexible and can be tailored toward a child's specific needs.
CBHS will also be offering a no cost training opportunity in Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, anticipated to be offered Spring of 2024. MDFT is an integrated therapy model that incorporates and supports parents, families, and community partners. MDFT seeks to enhance coping, problem solving, and communication skills; stabilize mental health issues; reduce youth substance use; and improve school achievement among adolescents and young adults. MDFT also aims to improve parenting skills, parental functioning, family communication, attachment, and to reduce parenting stress. More information will be coming soon on this opportunity.
Information regarding eligibility and requirements for both TF-CBT and MATCH, reimbursements for training/consultation components, and the application process are in the attached document.
