Maine DOE’s No-Cost Program to Support Educator Wellbeing and Create Calm and Supporting Learning Environments to Continue

Dear Champions of Education,

On September 25, 2023, we announced that the Maine Department of Education (Maine DOE) partnered with The Regulated Classroom© to support educator wellbeing and student engagement at no cost to Maine educators. Within days the slots were filled and superintendents, school leaders, and educators reached out to inquire about whether additional trainings would be available. The Maine DOE is pleased to announce additional train-the-trainer professional development opportunities.

Six hundred MORE slots have been created for 2024. There will also be opportunities for participants from both the fall trainings and the spring trainings to engage with others to improve implementation and to share learning with colleagues in their schools. Registration is OPEN now at http://www.regulatedclassroom.com/Maine. Maine educators can complete their registration at no cost to them with the code MAINEFREE2024.

  * Superintendents received information about these trainings on January 26 and a number of training sessions are filled. Locations with available slots:

  *   June 6th and 7th – Millinocket
  *   June 13th and 14th – Machias

  *   June 24th and 25th – Camp South – In Southern Maine
  *   September 24th and 25th – Administrators Fall Retreat
  *   September 26th and 27th - Camp North – in Northern Maine

Prior to registering, participants are asked to review What to Expect at Maine DOE Regulated Classroom Training<https://maine.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a582edd6473e477ef6307c769&id=4261b13054&e=4bb1694fe4>. For those school administrative units (SAUs) who sent participants to the fall training, all participants received 15 guidebooks and access to ongoing support to be able to train colleagues. Administrators are encouraged to meet with those participants and to support them in developing an implementation plan.

Community of Practice sessions are open to all fall participants. The first Community of Practice will be held Wednesday, March 6th from 3:30-4:30. These Communities of Practice will be ongoing for the entirety of 2024. Practices are also shared with the closed Facebook page – The Regulated Classroom - Maine DOE Program. Further support to implementation is being provided through the Office of School and Student Supports – SEL Specialists Kellie Doyle Bailey @ kellie.bailey at maine.gov<mailto:kellie.bailey at maine.gov> and Sarah Nelson @ sarah.nelson at maine.gov<mailto:sarah.nelson at maine.gov>. More information about the Communities of Practice will be forthcoming.
