[MEA] Maine Through Year Assessment Winter Administration Updates

The updates below are for the winter administration of the Maine Through Year Assessment.

STUDENT GROUPS
Student Reporting and Online Testing groups do NOT automatically carry over from administration to administration. You will need to assign the Winter 2025 administration to your existing groups in order to have those educators be able to see their students' scores (Reporting groups) and proctor the assessment (Online Testing groups).
Attached to this email are the following three documents, also available in the Help section of Acacia:

  *   Quick Reference for Creating Student Groups 24-25
  *   Maine Through Year Group Upload Format 2024-25 (Note: Using a bulk group upload is not the only way to update student groups. Please see the attached Quick Reference guide for more information.)
  *   Maine Through Year Groups Upload Template 2024-25

STUDENT IMPORT ERRORS
Please see the SAU Data Cleanup Checklist<https://www.nwea.org/uploads/The-Maine-Through-Year-SAU-Cleanup-Checklist_Winter-2025.pdf> for directions on how to check that all students' Maine Through Year Assessment RIT scores have successfully been imported from the Acacia platform to the MAP Growth platform. All data cleanup must be completed by February 28th.

ASSESSMENT RESETS
The Winter 2025 Assessment Reset Process Flow<https://www.nwea.org/uploads/Maine-Through-Year-Assessment-Reset-Process-Winter-25_NWEA_Guide.pdf> outlines criteria for assessment resets, consistent with all administrations of the Maine Through Year Assessment.
The Winter 2025 administration is optional, however, and not used for state accountability measures, and as a result the Assessment Team is choosing to explore the impact of offering more flexibility in providing assessment resets in the winter this academic year.
Specifically, if a student has experienced a fall-to-winter RIT score decrease that is so unexpected that less than 2% of students would be expected to demonstrate that decrease based on the 2020 MAP Growth norms<https://teach.mapnwea.org/impl/MAPGrowthNormativeDataOverview.pdf>, the Maine DOE Assessment Team may approve the reset. For context, here are the minimum fall-to-winter RIT score decreases necessary to meet this special case:

If this is the case for you, please email me directly with the student's SSID and content area. Do NOT submit the reset request form with the reason being a decrease of 20 or more points if that is not accurate; if approved, I will provide you with specific directions via email for submitting your reset request. Again, the Assessment Team is able to offer this flexibility in winter only.
All reset requests are due by February 7th at 4:00 PM and, depending on the volume of requests received, may take up to three business days to be fulfilled.
