A shout out of gratitude to School Nurse Heather White! While she was doing vision screenings this year, one of her students presented with a total loss of vision in one eye. The other eye was 20/20, and with both eyes was 20/25. This student had never presented
with any eye issues prior, nor did the teacher notice any difficulties in class. Heather sent the referral home, spoke to mom, and she set up an eye appointment. The diagnosis was related to a genetic condition. The eye doctor said it was incredible that
this was detected at school and that the child may have lost total vision had they not been doing school screenings. The child now has a plan for correction.</div>

We are excited to announce a new pilot program funded by a grant received by the School Oral Committee. This program allows students to receive Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) applications. SDF is a liquid that can help prevent cavities from growing, particularly
in children. Three reasons to consider being part of this pilot: SDF prevents severe tooth decay, provides more comprehensive care, and addresses gaps in access to dental care. </div>
