Trauma-Informed Care in School Nursing<https://learn.nasn.org/courses/60155>

Abbreviated Program Overview

Trauma-informed schools provide students, families, and staff with an environment attuned to the prevalence of trauma. School nurses, specifically, work very closely with students, families, and staff who may be experiencing distress. An integral part of a trauma-informed school environment, school nurses provide care and resources to patients who may be impacted by abuse, community violence, a medical event, or trauma that may be experienced day-to-day. Trauma-informed school nursing practice requires an awareness of trauma’s potential impact on students and colleagues, recognition of the signs and symptoms of traumatic stress reactions, and integration of trauma-informed techniques.

AHI's Teen Advisory Council<https://t.e2ma.net/click/p1u0rq/lqnored/9s13q9g> (TAC TAC) has developed a mental health poster<https://t.e2ma.net/click/p1u0rq/lqnored/pl23q9g> that connects youth in Wayne and Washtenaw counties to local, low-cost, and culturally responsive mental health resources.
