Hello everyone!

Thank you Tammy Diaz for acting as host this month as I was unable to attend office hours. Here are the topics discussed.

Thank YOU all for everything you do for students in the State of Maine. There are great things happening in our state and part of that is because of the great school nurses!

American Academy of Pediatrics HATS assessment tool:

Sneak Peek! The Health Services Assessment Tool for Schools (HATS) is a self-scoring online tool created to assist school districts and states in assessing the quality and comprehensiveness of school health services programs. Completing this tool is the first step in evaluating and improving school health services policies, practices, and infrastructure to enhance the health and well-being of all students. An invite to participate will be coming out through the DOE newsroom soon. This is an exciting and voluntary opportunity led by your district team with support from DOE staff throughout the year.

School Health Annual Report is open for submissions. You should have received an email with a link, but if you can’t find it you can access via DC&R Calendar<https://www.maine.gov/doe/data-reporting/collection/calendar> by searching for your school district. As a reminder, this is submitted at the district level. It is due by July 31, 2023. The worksheet can be accessed here<https://www.maine.gov/doe/sites/maine.gov.doe/files/inline-files/2023_School_Annual_Health_Annual_Report_Worksheet.pdf> to aid in collection. If you lose the link... you can find the reporting calendar through the Guidelines to School Health Services Reports & Records Portal: https://www.maine.gov/doe/schools/safeschools/healthed/nurseresources/guidelines

Workforce Study (i.e. Environmental Scan of School Health Services) timeline for survey completion ended 5/30, however has been extended through June 7th (today). We are going to leave the last 15 minutes of today’s meeting for you to take the time to complete if you’ve started or to start the survey if you haven’t yet. We hope most of you will take the time to complete this survey. For all those that participate, there are five people that will be drawn to receive a raffle item after survey end date. The more that participate, the better understanding we will have of the overall landscape of health services in our schools.

Have a wonderful summer. I hope it is restful and reinvigorating. Please let us know how we can support you!
