Good morning all,

  * SALT - for those of you seeking a price on salt through us this year, I'm told I will have those prices on 6/16/25. As soon as I get them, I will send to those seeking a price. You will have 2 weeks from my "salt email" to accept or reject the price.
  * LRAP (Local Road Assistance Program) - The Highway Budget has been finalized but the full Legislature has not finished their overall budget work as of today. Therefore we do not have figures to determine municipal allocations yet. A proposed increase of $5M is proposed so that all municipal and county recipients may see an increase in their annual payment. However, nothing is final until the Legislature finishes their work. When that happens, we will determine LRAP payment amounts shortly thereafter.

  * We finally wrapped up 19 municipal workshops, the APWA Spring meeting, Supervisory Leadership & the Highway Congress in Skowhegan. It was a VERY BUSY SPRING! As I try to catch up, please know that I haven't forgotten you. I still owe many of you invoices for the workshops attended, which I will be doing within the next weeks. I also owe many of you the new 2023 Edition of the MUTCD. I will make sure to get these mailed soon to those that requested. The new work zone FLIP BOOKS should be available at some point this summer.
  *   FALL WORKSHOPS

  * Supervisory Leadership for Public Works is scheduled for September 17-18 & October 21-23. I currently have 40+ on a wait list. If you would like to be added to the wait list, please let me know. I can only take 27 so it will be first come, first served FROM THE DATE THAT I SEND OUT THE EMAIL TO THOSE ON THE WAIT LIST (end of July; first of August).
  * Snow & Ice/calibration - I will be scheduling a few of these classes in the fall. Fort Kent requested a calibration class which we are doing the first of September. These would consist of a half day classroom & afternoon "calibrating" at a public works garage. Please let me know if this is something you are interested in so that I can scheduled accordingly.
  * Our Fall workshops will be listed on our website<https://www.maine.gov/dot/programs-services/cslr/mlrc> soon

  * Speed Limits - you may have heard that the process of setting speed limits on all Maine roads has changed recently. Details and a new video can be seen here<https://www.maine.gov/dot/programs-services/safety-and-mobility/safer-roads/safe-system> and is based on roadway context.
  * Crosswalk RRFBs (Rapid Reflecting Flashing Beacons) - we will be awarding these (roughly 40) this summer to many towns/cities. I currently have a "wait list" for these but if you would like to be considered to receive a set, please let me know & I can send you an application. These crosswalk units improve pedestrian crossing safety and will be owned, installed, and maintained by each town.

That's all for now. Enjoy your summer!
